In this steel material for a CVT sheave, Fn1 defined by equation (1) satisfies the expression 13.9 ≤ Fn1 ≤ 15.5, and Fn2 defined by equation (2) satisfies the expression 1.20 ≤ Fn2 ≤ 4.35. (1): Fn1 = 7 × Cr – 6 × Si + 4 × Mn. (2): Fn2 = Al × N × 104.
