PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a position acquisition method of a surveying device that can automatically acquire a position of a surveying device main body and the surveying device.SOLUTION: A position acquisition method of a surveying device 1 capable of at least non-prism range-finding includes the steps of: installing the surveying device adjacent to orthogonal two wall faces to thereof; detecting an inclination angle of the surveying device; collimating the surveying device on the basis of the detected inclination angle; conducting non-prism range-finding and angle measuring as to the wall face in a state where a telescope unit 7 of the surveying device is directed at a horizontal direction; and computing a horizontal position of the surveying device with respect to the wall face on the basis of a range-finding result of the wall face and angle measuring thereof.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 7
