To smoothly perform distribution of a broadcast program.SOLUTION: A broadcast receiver for receiving a stream that includes program information divided into a plurality of packets and is multicasted comprises: a broadcast reception unit for performing participation processing of transmitting participation information for reporting participation in a group to which the stream is multicasted and separation processing of transmitting separation information for reporting separation from the group; and a reservation management unit for controlling the broadcast reception unit. The reservation management unit makes the broadcast reception unit perform the participation processing before start time of reservation video recording processing or reservation viewing processing of the program and makes the broadcast reception unit perform the separation processing after end time of the reservation video recording processing or the reservation viewing processing of the program. The reservation management unit performs participation dispersion processing of dispersing, within a prescribed range, transmission timing on the participation information with respect to the start time.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
