To provide a nanocatalyst which can be regenerated and reused, has long term stability, and allows for selective production of a desired product in a carbon dioxide conversion reaction.SOLUTION: A method for making a nanocatalyst nanoparticle is provided that comprises: preparing a precursor nanoparticle 21 containing a precursor component 22 having a chemical bond 24; breaking the chemical bond 24; and obtaining a nanocatalyst nanoparticle 26 (for example CuN-Cu particle), wherein the nanocatalyst nanoparticle 26 contains a main component 23 and a secondary component 25, the secondary component 25 is doped on a surface of the nanocatalyst nanoparticle 26. A method for converting carbon dioxide into one or more products is also provided that comprises: preparing one or more nanocatalyst nanoparticle 26; and contacting the carbon dioxide with the one or more nanocatalyst nanoparticle 26 to catalyze conversion of carbon dioxide into one or more products.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
