The invention provides a method and a system for measuring the fouling rate of a solar photovoltaic power plant in real time and based on image processing. The invention can also analyze the fouling rate value calculated by the image processing system, and provide intelligent cleaning decision through a cleaning decision system or a part of a solar power plant, some modules or the entire solar farm. The invention includes at least one reference module connected to the module being checked.Unmanned aerial vehicle or any camera system with visible and thermal cameras; image processing system and cleaning decision system.
