THE ECOLOGICAL FOAMS OF THE INVENTION, BASED ON STARCHES OBTAINED FROM COLOPHONIA, WERE DESIGNED TO USE A CONSIDERABLE AMOUNT OF BIODEGRADABLE MATERIAL INCORPORATED IN A FOAM FORMING AGENT AND VISIT A STUDY OF ALUMINUM. COLOPHONIA, ALSO KNOWN AS RESIN GUM, IS ENVIRONMENTALLY SUSTAINABLE AND CAN BE USED IN HIGH PRODUCTIVITY AND LOW COST APPLICATIONS. STARCH-BASED FOAM FORMATION HAS BEEN DEVELOPED ANALOGUALLY TO THE POLYURETHANE FOAM MANUFACTURING PROCESS. PINHEIRO'S NON-VOLATILE DITERPENIC ACIDS CONSTITUTE WHAT IS COMMERCIALLY KNOWN BY COLOPHONIES OR, MORE PRECISELY, BY COLOPHONY ACIDS, ONCE THE CONTAINING THE FUNCTIONAL CARBOXYLIC ACID GROUP. THE PINHEIRO RESIN CONTAINS, IN ITS PRIMARY COMPOSITION, AN ALIPHATIC RING, ABIETIC ACID, WHICH, IN CONTACT WITH THE ISOCIANATE, LEADS TO THE RELEASE OF CARBON DIOXIDE RESULTING IN A FINAL PRODUCT THAT HAS THE STRUCTURE OF A CELL FOAM. THE RESIN'S REACTIONS WITH THE ISOCIANATE WERE PERFORMED IN THE ABSENCE OF A CATALYST, HOWEVER, THE PRESENCE OF ETHANOL AND WATER GREATLY IMPROVES FOAM FORMATION KINETICS.
