SELECTIVE EXTRACT OF FAGUS SYLVATICA L. LEAVES WITH EFFECT OF POTENTIATION OF IRINOTECAN ANTITUMOR ACTIVITY

The invention relates to a process for preparing a selective extract of Fagus sylvatica L. (beech) leaves with effect of potentiation of irinotecan antitumor activity on tumor cell lines. According to the invention, the process consists in extracting the vegetal material of beech leaves with water, for 1h, at the mixture reflux temperature, after which the vegetal mass is separated by filtration and it is concentrated in rotovap, further, 400 ml of ethyl alcohol 96% are added to 100 ml of concentrated aqueous extract, the suspension is separated by vacuum filtration, the hydroalcoholic extract is dosed with regard to the total polyphenols content expressed as gallic acid GAE per ml of extract, after which it is concentrated in the residue, which is continued in ethyl alcohol 20%, to result in a standardized extract with a total polyphenols content expressed as gallic acid of 5 mg of GAE/ml of extract.
