METHOD FOR USING BULK AND POROUS N-CONTAINING/N-DOPED CARBON AND CARBON NITRIDES AS HETEROGENEOUS CATALYSTS FOR BORROWING HYDROGEN AND DEHYDROGENATION REACTIONS

A method for using bulk and porous N-containing/-doped carbon and carbon nitrides as heterogeneous catalysts for borrowing hydrogen and dehydrogenation reactions. The bulk and porous nitrogen-containing/nitrogen-doped carbon and carbon nitrides as novel heterogeneous catalysts developed herein can be used in at least one of the following organic transformations: the preparation of imines by dehydrogenative coupling of alcohols and amines/nitro-compounds; N-alkylation of amines/nitro-compounds using alcohols; C-alkylation of alcohols/ketones using alcohols; synthesis of quinolines by dehydrogenative condensation reactions between amino alcohols and ketones/alcohols; transfer hydrogenation of nitro-compounds.
