Provided is a preparation method for an ultrathin Ni-Fe-MOF nanosheet, comprising the following steps: dissolving an organic ligand in an organic solvent; dropwise adding the obtained solution into an aqueous solution with nickel salt and ferric salt dissolved; and mixing uniformly, and then reacting in a closed reaction kettle for 3-6 hours at 140-160°C, so as to obtain the ultrathin Ni-Fe-MOF nanosheet, wherein the organic ligand is p-phthalic acid and/or disodium terephthalate, and the organic solvent is N,N-dimethylacetamide and/or N,N-dimethylformamide. Also provided are an ultrathin Ni-Fe-MOF nanosheet and an application thereof. The preparation method needs no surfactant, and can synthesize a large quantity of 2D ultrathin MOF material. The product has a clean surface and is easy to clean.
