A dual-system hot backup switching method and system applied to an automatic running system of a train. The method comprises: first, a present-system logical unit and a peer-system logical unit perform primary/backup system contention; then, when becoming a primary system by means of the contention, the present-system logical unit or the peer-system logical unit controls outputs and communications, and outputs a primary system state signal. Primary/backup system switching is implemented by means of dual-system hot backup switching, without adding a reverse switching unit or a device having a function similar to that of the reverse switching unit, thereby improving system reliability.
