Provided is a method capable of accurately evaluating the expansion or contraction of a curable composition due to curing. The present invention relates to a method for evaluating the expansion or contraction over time of a curable composition due to curing, the method comprising: a measuring step in which while curing a curable composition which is received in a receiving member and has a surface on which the coating member is arranged, the coating member is continuously irradiated with laser light from a laser light source to continuously measure the position of the coating member on the basis of reflected light of the laser light; and an evaluation step in which an expansion or contraction over time of a curable composition due to the curing is evaluated from the transition of the position measured in the measurement step, wherein the coating member has a reflectance for laser light of at least 50%, and a mass of at most 10 mg.
