Provided is a method and system for distributed decoding of a split image, whereby an 8K HEVC-tiled image split according to a DASH protocol and 2K multi-view images can be decoded in real time for tile-based streaming. According to an embodiment of the present invention, the method for distributed decoding of a split image comprises the steps of: producing a low-definition image bitstream by downsampling a video and then encoding the downsampled video through a single video encoder, and producing an ultra-high-definition image bitstream by spatially splitting the video into N1×M1 tiles and then encoding the tiles through a plurality of video encoders, and producing a high-definition image bitstream by spatially splitting the video into N2×M2 tiles and then encoding the tiles through a plurality of video encoders; producing low-definition images, ultra-high-definition images, and high-definition images in parallel by parsing the low-definition image bitstream, the ultra-high-definition image bitstream, and the high-definition image bitstream through respective parsing channels; and producing a first image such that a user's area of interest therein comprises the ultra-high-definition or high-definition images, and the area around the area of interest comprises the low-definition images. Accordingly, when a tile-based streaming service is provided, it is possible to provide ultra-high quality images, with delays minimized that occur during a user's FOV switching. It is also possible to flexibly provide services by streaming an image along with an advertisement for a commercial purpose or a recommendation image relating to the image.
