The present invention relates to a method for producing a carbon-based negative electrode which can be applied to a lithium ion battery using carbon dioxide, and a carbon-based negative electrode for a lithium ion battery produced by the method. To this end, a carbon dioxide can be used as a carbon precursor or an auxiliary component to form a composite of carbon with materials such as boron, nitrogen, silicon, and metal oxides, and can also be applied as a negative electrode material for lithium ion batteries. Carbon dioxide, the cause of global warming and air pollution, can be actively used in the synthesis of electrode materials for lithium ion batteries, the next-generation energy storage device. The high storage capacity of the lithium ion battery can be maintained for a long time, thereby can greatly contribute to the improvement of the performance of the lithium ion battery.
