The present invention relates to a method (P1) for coding a solar time, referred to as an initial solar time (Hs1) associated with a geographic location (Loc) and a date of the year (J1). The method comprises the steps of: selecting a reference time (Href) and an initial number of bits (Nb1) as a function of the type of the initial solar time (Hs) (SEL (Href, Nb1)); calculating the number of minutes (Nm1) separating the initial solar time (Hs1) and the reference time (Href) (CALC (Nm1)); and coding the number of minutes (Nm1) to the initial number of bits (Nb1) (COD (Hs1)).;COPYRIGHT KIPO 2020
