Achieving selective and reversible adsorption (4% CO 2 ) of CO 2 from humid and low partial pressure streams, such as flue gas from the combustion of natural gas in a combined cycle power plant, is not only high thermal, oxidative, and hydrolysis stability. It is very difficult because proper regeneration conditions are required to reduce the energy of adsorption / desorption cycling. Metal-organic framework Mg 2 (dobpdc) (dobpdc 4 - = 4,4- deoxy-ratio-phenyl-3,3-dicarboxylate), Mg 2 (dotpdc) ( dotpdc 4 - = 4,4 '' - Deoxydo- [1,1 ': 4', 1 ''-terphenyl] -3,3 ''-dicarboxylate) or Mg 2 (pc-dobpdc) (pc-dobpdc 4- = deoxido ratio Stable grade adsorbents EMM-44, EMM by adding cyclic primary and secondary diamines exemplified by 2- (aminomethyl) piperidine (2-ampd) to phenyl-4,4'-dicarboxylate) -45, and EMM-46, respectively, which show stepwise adsorption of CO 2 at partial pressure required for 90% capture from natural gas fuel flue gas at temperatures above 60 ° C. The use of cyclic diamines instead of diamines functionalized with bulky alkyl groups enables rapid adsorption / desorption rates with rapid CO 2 adsorption and desorption steps.
