The present invention provides an object detection system combining an infrared method and an electromagnetic induction method. The object detection system includes: a surface which is approached or touched by an object; an infrared irradiation unit for emitting infrared rays to be in parallel with the surface from one side end of the surface toward an opposite side end; an infrared reception unit for receiving the infrared rays at the opposite side end of the surface; an antenna unit disposed on the surface or an opposite surface of the surface to react to electromagnetic waves emitted by an electronic pen approaching the surface; and a control unit for driving the infrared irradiation unit to emit the infrared ray, analyzing the infrared ray received from the infrared ray reception unit, and determining a position of an object in contact with the surface to generate infrared-based coordinates, wherein the control unit analyzes the reaction of the antenna unit and determines the position of the electronic pen in contact with the surface to generate electromagnetic induction coordinates.;COPYRIGHT KIPO 2020
