The present invention relates to a medium composition for promoting the differentiation of mesenchymal stem cells, and a method for promoting the differentiation of the mesenchymal stem cells using the same. More specifically, the present invention relates to a medium composition for promoting the differentiation of mesenchymal stem cells, containing hexanoyl glycol chitosan as an active ingredient, and to a method for promoting the differentiation of the mesenchymal stem cells using the medium composition. The present invention may be usefully used to promote the differentiation of stem cells to rapidly obtain differentiated cells, when it is necessary to prepare or supply a sufficient amount of stem cells before being differentiated into specific tissues in a short period of time. The differentiated cells thus obtained are useful as cell therapeutics.
