METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR CORRECTING POLARIZATION FOR IMPROVING THE ACCURACY OF RAW DATA OF GEOSTATIONARY ENVIRONMENTAL MONITORING SPECTROMETER

Disclosed are a method for correcting polarization to increase accuracy of raw data of a geostationary environmental monitoring spectrometer (GEMS) and a device thereof. The method for correcting polarization includes: a step of receiving radiant intensity data of a GEMS and determining whether a cloud area exists; a step of extracting first data including albedo and the pressure of the upper part of cloud about all wavelengths of a pixel corresponding to the cloud area when it is determined that the cloud area exists; a step of extracting second data including a stokes parameter about the all wavelengths of the each pixel corresponding to the radiant intensity data by using a lookup table; and a step of correcting the polarization of the radiant intensity data by applying first data and second data extracted to a polarization correction algorithm.
