The invention further relates to a central release mechanism (1), comprising a piston and a magnet fastened to the piston, the magnet and a sensor (3) being coordinated with each other in such a way that the position of the piston relative to the housing (2) can be sensed. The invention further relates to an assembly method for attaching a displacement measurement sensor (3) to a housing (2) of a central release mechanism (1), a retainer (4) being formed on the housing (2), into which retainer the displacement measurement sensor (3) is axially slid.
