Emission-based control of an internal combustion engine

A method is provided for controlling an internal combustion engine as a function of the current emissions of the internal combustion engine, the function of exhaust gas aftertreatment devices arranged in the exhaust gas tract of the internal combustion engine being checked and the power of the internal combustion engine being regulated so that the emissions from the exhaust gas tract remain below a threshold value. Furthermore, an arrangement for carrying out the method and a corresponding motor vehicle are provided.
