Air purification device, comprising a base body 1, a water surge nozzle 2, water collector 3 and a circulation and pump unit 4, characterized, that the base body 1 forms an air duct 5, wherein the air duct 5 has a supply air section 6 which is designed to carry an emission-laden supply air 7, wherein the air duct 5 has an exhaust air section 8, which is designed to guide a cleaned exhaust air 9. that the water surge wall nozzle is arranged in the air duct 5 and is designed to generate a water surge wall 11 in a water surge wall region by means of a cleaning water 10, the water surge wall region extending over an air duct cross section, the water surge wall area separating the supply air section 6 and the exhaust air section 8, whereby the emission-laden supply air 7 from the supply air section 6 is washable and can be discharged as cleaned exhaust air 9 into the exhaust air section 8 by means of the water surge wall 11, that the water catchment 3 is arranged below the water surge wall area and is designed to collect the cleaning water 10 from the water surge wall 11, and that the circulation and pump unit 4 has an extraction line 12, a supply line 13 and a pump 14, the removal line 12 being designed to receive the cleaning water 10 from the water catchment 3, wherein the supply line 13 is designed to supply the cleaning water to the water spray nozzle, wherein the pump 14 is designed to pressurize the cleaning water 10 from the extraction line 12 and to introduce it into the supply line 13.
