Particle separator (10; 110) for use with a chimney (14; 114) or a connecting line, where an inner wall (14b; 114b) of the chimney (14; 114) enclosing an inner wall of the chimney (14b; 114b) forms a precipitation electrode, comprising:a longitudinal spray electrode (26; 126), which is essentially parallel to a central axis (M14; M114) of the chimney stone (14; 114);an electrode holder (24; 124) at the first end of which the spray electrode (26; 126) is carried; andan insulator (22; 122) which carries the second end of the electrode holder (24; 124), with the spray electrode (26; 126) chargeable with a voltage source;characterized by:the particle separator (10; 110) also includes a housing (12; 112) which extends outwards from the outer wall (14a; 114a) of the chimney stone (14; 114),where the insulator (22; 122), the electrode holder (24; 124) and the spray electrode (26; 126) are so displaced in the housing (22; 122) that the spray electrode (26; 126) is situated between an operating position in which it is essentially on the middle axle (M14; M114) of the chimney stone (14; 114), and a sharing position in which it is essentially located outside the interior of the chimney stone (14; 114).
