The invention relates to a method for treating an aqueous effluent containing organic compounds, said method comprising the following steps: - a step of adsorption of the organic compounds comprising a step of bringing at least part of the aqueous effluent to be treated with a solid adsorbent medium; - a step of backwashing the solid adsorbent medium; - A first step of desorption of the solid adsorbent medium comprising a step of bringing a desorption fluid into contact with all or part of the solid adsorbent medium. The invention also relates to a device for treating an aqueous effluent for implementing the treatment method.
