The method according to the invention comprises a step of determining an optimal quantity of dilution water as a function of the humidity of the air on the fiberizing station, the humidity of the aspirated air and the flow rate d air sucked into the at least one suction sheath, and the quantity of water desired in the mattress at the outlet of the receiving chamber, and a step of adjusting the quantity of dilution water as a function of said optimal quantity thus determined.
