Autonomous device (1) for measuring at least one characteristic of a fluid flowing in a conduit, the autonomous device (1) comprising a rotor (2) comprising a turbine (3), the rotor (2) being consequently susceptible to be driven in rotation by the fluid along an axis of rotation of the turbine (3); a stator (4), defining with the rotor (2) a generator of electrical charges; a processing circuit (5) electrically connected to the generator and configured to provide a measurement of the characteristic; the autonomous device (1) being characterized in that it also comprises a braking device capable of exerting a braking torque opposing the rotational movement of the rotor (2).
