The application discloses a plurality of hexagonal interlocking containers 1. Each container comprises six faces, each face has an engagement portion (either in the shape of a groove 4 or a protrusion 3), and each portion has three faces. The engagement portions are designed such that they can be pulled apart radially but not laterally. Each of the six faces are construed to comprise three sections; an upper 8, lower 10 and middle 9 sections. The middle section is free from any engagement portions which are preferably located on the lower and upper sections. Ideally, the middle section is a flat surface that forms a gap (15, figure 16) with another container of the same shape when interlocked. A vertical locking element (16, figure 17) may be inserted into the gap to prevent movement of the containers when interlocked. The vertical locking element may be inflatable. A strap (14, figure 21) may be placed around a plurality of interlocked containers. The containers may be lifted via a lifting means (17, figure 21).
