A sliding base plate for a vacuum cleaner nozzle comprising a suction port 1 into which a suction opening 6 leads, wherein the suction port is defined by a front suction port edge 2 extending from a first end 10 to a second end 10 of the suction port characterized in that the front suction port edge has a concave curvature in longitudinal direction and is located in a plane perpendicular to the bearing surface of the base plate wherein the front suction port edge protrudes more on a bottom side than adjacent to the suction opening. The front suction port edge may have a height difference (fig 2, H) of 0.5 mm to 1.5 mm between the concave curvature apex (fig 2, S) and the ends (10,10), and may be straight in longitudinal direction. The base plate may be embodied as a plastic molded part, have a sliding bevel 4 and an inclined surface 5, and have a plateau 9 extending the length of the suction port parallel to the front suction port edge and arranged between the bevel and front suction port edge.
