A device (1) for feeding a magazine (2) for unstacking mail items (3) on-edge, comprising a first feed conveyor (4) for conveying transversely orientated bins (6) loaded with mail items laid flat in the bottom of the bins, and a tilting means (8) for tilting the bin in order to pivot, on the front, a bin on a ramp of the tilting means, so as to bring the mail items on-edge, from the bin onto the unstacking magazine. The device comprises a second feed conveyor (5) for conveying bins (6) orientated lengthwise loaded with mail items (3) arranged on-edge in the bottom of the bins and a means (9) for inverting bins (6) designed to lay a bin on the side of the unstacking magazine.
