The invention relates to a gymnastics or physical exercise device (10) with at least one vertical bar (12) with transverse bores (20) and at least one holder (16; 96) for fastening at least one exercise element (14, 78, 88) to the bar. The holder comprises a holding part (40; 98) with two parallel legs (48; 100) and two bolts (44). At least two pairs of aligned hook openings (50; 106; 124) are cut out in the legs of the holding part. The upper hook opening of each leg runs obliquely upwards towards its rounded inner end (56; 108). After attaching the bracket to the rod, the holding part is hooked on the upper of the two bolts which extends through the upper pair of hook openings and is secured with the lower bolt which extends through a transverse bore of the rod and the lower pair located below extends from hook openings. The lower hook opening of each leg runs obliquely downwards towards its rounded inner end.
