METAPHORS FOUND IN THE NOVELud“REMEMBER ME”

The title of this paper is “Metaphors Found in The Novel of “RememberudMe”. The data in this paper are taken from the novel entitled “Remember Me” byudWilliam Fetters. This paper is discussing about the types of metaphor found in theudnovel and also their literal and connotative meaning. The theories applied toudsupport the paper are Metaphor We Live By written by Lakoff and Johnsen (2003).udBased on the result of the analysis, it is found that there are five types ofudmetaphors found in novel “Remember Me”, they are dead metaphor, liveudmetaphor, orientational metaphor, ontological metaphor, and structural metaphor.udFurthermore, metaphors not only have a literal meaning but it also conveyedudmuch wider meaning than that, which is connotative meaning. We have to payudattention a little deeper, in order to understand the meaning of it. When we onlyudtranslate it literally, it may cause misinterpretation.
