Current Situation and Problems in Number of Established “Home Medical Treatment Support Hospital” : About Rolls of Hospitals Supporting Home Medical Treatment

This study is a survey that examined the establishment situation of Home Medical Treatment Support Hospital introduced by Revised Clinic Fees in 2008.Home Medical Treatment Support Hospital is a system that highly evaluates clinic fees of main hospitals that carry the home medical treatment in the region where there is no clinic supporting home medical treatment.As of October 1, 2008, there are only 10 hospitals in 9 prefectures all over the country: Hokkaido, Akita, Gifu, Shizuoka, Tottori, Hiroshima, Oita, Kagoshima, and Miyazaki.The reason could be considered as a severe requirement in Home Medical Treatment Support Hospital facility standards that prescribes “There is no clinic within a radius of 4 km from the hospital” .Therefore, “Home Medical Treatment Support Hospital” is an extremely rare existence, and can't carry enough rolls that make up for the region without support clinics dealing with essential home medical treatments.In the future, to prepare the supporting environment for home medical treatment, the system design with a flexible choice capability that allows an enough utilization of medical resources in each region is indispensable.
