A Comparative Analysis of Recorderu27s Viewpoints in Teaching : Learning Process using the Quarter-Split Screen

It is normal that the same instruction is viewed differently by different observers. However, it is expected that such different views may help triangulate the observation data. It may also be the case that there would be some commonality shared among different observers, which in turn may help examine a particular set of problems with the instruction. The present paper is a report of the research that was conducted to examine how differently or similarly the same instructional setting would be viewed by different individual observers. The instrument that was used in the research was a video-player that had specifically been prepared so four different views could be watched on one screen, so-called the quarter-split screen. The analysis of the four different views that had been recorded by four different observers of the same classroom, not surprisingly, showed that there were obviously similar views shared by different observers. However, there were differences among them as well. The paper provides several suggestions as to how to use the system to learn from such multiple views and differences in views as both help deepen our understanding of an instruction.
