Since the 1st April, 1974 agencies providing services tor the mentallyudhandicapped have been funded by way of approved allocations, and grantudpayments, direct tram the Department's Tote, with the exception of someudsmall agencies still funded by way of capitation rate, or section 65 grant,ud(e.g. St. Michael's House Dublin and Western After Care Association) paidudby health boards to the agencies concerned.udFinancial Data has been submitted by these agencies on the basis of audsubjective analysis or pay e.g. administration etc., and non-payude.g. medicines etc. as well as and statistical data in regard to bedsudand occupancy. In recent years apart from the sizeable increase in theudnumber of beds available, there has been a steady development and extensionudof ancillary services such as hostels and assessment clinics.
