HARIS MUNANDAR WIBAWA: An Interpretation of The Educational Valuesudof The Non-Fiction Drama on TelevisionudMovie:‖ The Miracle Worker‖ Based UponudThe Book Entitled ―The Story of My Life‖udWritten by Helen KellerudLiterature is such a different way in learning English, it shows the beautyudof a language that can make us enjoy learning it. However it also requires wideudknowledge and more than linguistic capacities. Learning and teaching Englishudthrough literature involve the learners‘ emotions and feelings while learning it.udDrama is one of the genres in literature besides prose and poetry. Drama isuda written art that is visualized in a performance either performed in a theatre orudrecorded in a film. There are two kinds of drama, namely fiction and non-fiction.udNon fiction drama is based on the true story and usually contained manyudeducational values more than the entertainment values. We are not only able toudlearn about the educational values but also we are able to collect some importantudinformation about the culture by learning about the characters and the otherudelements of the drama. Meanwhile the fiction drama is a drama which is made byudthe writer‘s imagination.udThe aims of this research are to find out the educational values in the nonfictionuddrama of television movie: ― The Miracle Worker‖ Based Upon The BookudEntitled ―The Story of My Life‖ Written by Helen Keller. Watching the movie onudtelevision or DVD and also reading the subtitle we can experience and getudknowledge from the drama that we can apply in our real life. We also know aboutudseveral different characters from the drama, we can see and feel about theirudenvironment and feelings and emerge our emotion whether it is happy or sad.udThe technique of collecting data in this thesis is library research orudqualitative approach that is to collect, to arrange, to present, to analyze, toudconclude, to make decision, to interpret the data, to be systematic, valid andudreasonable, and to control the situation. This technique uses books and otherudreferences such as web to collect the information.udEducational values is the values related to the education, both in the schooludor at home, not only for children but also adult. It consists of moral value, socialudvalue, and spiritual value. Education is any process by which an individual gainsudknowledge or develops attitudes and skills.
