'Objektiv' - Et fototidskrift til tablets og dettes virkning på fotografiet som kunstform

In this paper I have attempted to explain and understand the connection between the role of the curator and the art form of photography as it pertains to the world of the mobile phone and the tablet computer.I have done this with the aid of several texts, among these Susan Sontags collection of essays “On Photography” and Mary Marien’s “Photography, A Cultural History”.My chief source for the subject of the curator has been “Ten Fundamental Questions of Curating” edited by Jens Hoffmann.This paper also has a product attached to it, which is a mock-up of an app for smartphones and tablets called “Objektiv” which was the take-off point for the whole paper, namely to see if such and app, being curated, could change the art of the photograph in any way.The paper begins with formulating the research question: ”What, if anything, can be changed in photography on the internet and on smartphones and tablets as an art form, if the photography is placed in an app that is curated rather than on a photo sharing website?”After having posed this question, a chapter is spent on describing the history and cultural significance of photography as an art. Then on the role and power of the modern-day curator. A description of the aforementioned app is also made.Finally an analysis chapter puts all the ideas together, before the conclusion.What this paper finds is that photography as an art form can indeed be pushed in certain directions with the aid of the app and with the help of the curator.
