摘要

Motivation is a key to the success of an information unit element. The employee performance variant is a result of the influence that has the librarian that manages human resources. This article develops the expectancy theory of Vroom, which explains that motivation is a process of choices made between different behaviors that are under the control of individuals. So using this theory for information professionals who are responsible for managing employees is proposed. Also describes the components of the theory of expectation and mentioned the factors that generate the motivation of workers. In general, what we find is a lack of published studies in library and information science, at least in Latin America, about what motivates workgroup information units. Certainly the expectations theory does not offer specific suggestions about what motivates employees in an organization, however provides the cognitive process variables that reflect individual differences in motivation.
