摘要

With the adaptation of new technologies, it is required to optimize and improve processes to manufacture more parts and components of high precision. This project, being a local need for the company Alfiza, is based on the design, construction and testing of a grinding belt machine for superfinishing of rotating parts. With the use of an open belt system, it is desired -in the first place- to perform stress testing to the required belts.Regarding the machine, it is needed to find the ideal configuration to perform the superfinishing work such as: required size of all the components, relative cutting speed, feed rates and pre-load for the sanding belt. With all these parameters in place, the goal is to reach a superfinish with coefficients of roughness that fall within the parameters (between 0.025 and 0.2 μm). Using a profilometer the roughness of the pieces was measured (including a piece with hard chrome plating), obtaining the best coefficient of roughness Ra = 0.12 μm. The designed machine is within the planned specifications, cost, safe operation, etc.
