IV-(2) The distribution of the mangrove community in Okinawa and Kumejima Islands (Studies on the mangrove community) (Department of Forestry)

摘要

The distribution of the mangrove community in Okinawa and Kumejima Islands was described. Four mangrove species, Kandelia candel (L.) DRUCE, Bruguiera conjugata (L.) MERR., Rhizophora mucronata LAMK. and Lumnitzera racemosa WILD. were observed. The northernmost stand of L. racemosa in Kin (Ukukubi river), the most developed K. candel stands in Katabaru (Kebuhara river) and Kanna (Kanna river), the most developed stand of B. conjugata in Ooura and the most extensive and developed stand in Kesaji were important mangrove communities in those islands.
