[[abstract]]Feminists of color have been questioning the homogeneity of feminism aswritten about by middle-class Caucasion women and demanding a space for thevoices of minority female in order to create feminist discourses which are moreappropriate for women of different ethnicities, social classes, political positions andhistorical backgrounds. This paper, therefore, is devoted to the discovery ofheterogeneity within Chinese American women’s writing to refute the indiscernibilityof their works and to request more visibility for them. Furthermore, in this paper, Ihave selected Maxine Hong Kingston and Amy Tan, two renowned Chinese Americanfemale writers for comparison and contrast, which then unveil their similarities butmore importantly, their differences as distinct authors. The heterogeneity of writers ofseemingly similar backgrounds suggests a need for close reading and understandingof various subjects. Through the identification of the heterogeneity among ChineseAmerican women writers, this paper has offered a way to distinguish the subjectivityof different individuals.
