Methodological Report on the Conduct of the National Science Foundation's Survey of Scientific and Engineering Expenditures at Universities and Colleges, FY 1990

The report provides a summary description of the Research and Development (R&D) Expenditures Survey population, data collection and processing activities, response rates, and imputation for nonresponse. The FY 1990 survey sample population consisted of 459 universities or colleges with over $50,000 in R&D expenditures and 18 academically administered federally funded research and development centers (FFRDCs).
