The research was conducted to gain a fuller understanding of the extent to whichsmall enterprises adopt elements of flexible manufacturing. The study looks at the reasons for adopting these elements; difficulties small businesses encounter when they do so; decision-making about adopting these elements; and the ensuing effects on flexibility, product value, efficient use of fewer inputs, sales, and profits.
