摘要

The Rocky Mountain Center for Occupational and Environmental Health (RMCOEH) wasestablished to bring occupational and environmental health training and expert information to the region. Three major goals were to reduce the incidence of work related disease and injuries; to enhance the health, safety and performance of the workers; and to change environmental factors which had been linked to adverse health, safety or performance outcomes. The report discusses 5 years of the facility's history. Over that period of time, 121 graduate students have been enrolled in the programs at the center. Thirteen new academic and 29 new continuing education courses were developed during the grant years. Consultation was provided to industries and workers in the US and other countries. Research capabilities demonstrated a major jump forward with a 1500 square foot ergonomics research laboratory being established on site. RMCOEH program areas include agriculture, industrial hygiene, occupational medicine, occupational health nursing, ergonomics and safety, and continuing education and outreach with attention given to hazardous substances training.
