Role of Women in Rebuilding the Russian Economy. Studies of Economies inTransformation

The report addresses the role of female employment and social protection inrebuilding the Russian economy. It summarizes the current condition of women in Russia, including their declining health, and reviews the system of leaves and allowances that supports households in combining full-time work and child-care. Women's labor force participation, their income and career structure, and female unemployment, placement and re-training needs are examined. Also covered are the characteristics of women pensioners and their role in the labor market.
