Grinding Technology in Europe: U.S. Grinding Partnership. 2000 Survey Report

This report documents work performed under the U.S. Grinding Partnership - 2000Program. Major European grinding companies, their products, and new technologies are highlighted. The European survey includes visits Magerle, Blohm and Elb-Schliff. Korber and various technical research institutes are described. Grinding technology issues including machine design, coolant filtration and delivery systems, and CBN applications are reviewed. Business considerations such as manufacturing philosophy, organization and collaboration, and expansion are described. A discussion on current research issues including surface speed, wheel issues, coolant delivery, spindle power, and machine accuracy and sensors is included.
