Over the last few years, many African governments have made it an important policy objective to attract more foreign direct investment (FDI) into their countries. In response to this declared intention, the Multilateral Investment Guarantee Agency (MIGA) organized a 'Roundtable on Foreign Direct Investment Policies in Africa' in Gaborone, Botswana in early June 1992. This report represents an attempt to capture the essence of the opinions and viewpoints that were expressed, with the goal of providing lessons for African countries seeking to enhance their capacity to attract foreign investment.
