Economic Indicators of the Farm Sector: Costs of Production. Major Field Cropsand Livestock and Dairy, 1992

The report includes the average U.S. economic costs of producing corn, grainsorghum, oats, wheat, soybeans, rice, and cow-calf livestock which increased in 1992 but declined for peanuts and cotton. Barley and dairy total economic costs changed little. Variable cash expenses were relatively stable for most crops in 1992 with the exception of peanuts and rice as seed fertilizer, and energy costs showed a downward trend.
