Eldercare Locator. A National Toll-Free Telephone Service for Identifying I and RServices within State and Area Agencies on Aging

The Eldercare Locator is a national toll-free telephone number for informationabout and referral to community services for older persons and their caregivers. The goal of the EL is to provide information to older persons and their caregivers on how to access the programs and services on the National Aging Network. The EL was to: (1) establish a national database of state, sub-state and local information and referral sources; (2) Phase-in caller access to the 800 telephone service by geographic region; (3) promote the 800 number with a broad range of potential consumers; (4) encourage sponsorship of the service among public and private organizations.
