This seminar focused on the various views that key industry participants have onthe impending changes in the electric utility industry and the opportunities and threats that these changes will have on the natural gas industry. A broad range of viewpoints and experiences in the topic area were exchanged. Participants drew on their experience with the deregulation of the natural gas industry and paralleled that experience with developments in the electric industry. These discussions and the impact of the changing role of electricity as it competes with natural gas will help GRI reevaluate its research strategies and the technical targets for various end-use GRI research efforts.
