This report describes a study of the feasibility of operating Civil Tiltrotor(CTR) aircraft independently of conventional aircraft in two complex terminal areas. Aircraft operations and air traffic control procedures are described for terminal areas in general and for the New York and Boston terminal areas in particular. CTR arrival and departure routes were designed for those areas and are both described illustrated in the report. Interactions between CTRs and conventional aircraft were simulated using the SIMMOD Simulation Model. Controllers estimated that between 2 and 12 CTR operations per hour, and simulation results indicated that up to 20 CTR operations per hour, could be flown into each vertiport without increasing delays to conventional operations.
