摘要

The mathematical problem of illuminating a thin material sheet by a planeelectromagnetic wave and finding the field scattered by a small dielectric object behind the screen is considered. The problem is analyzed in general terms applying the Exact Image Theory which involves replacing the sheet by an equivalent image source of the object. It is seen that when the object is approximated by an electric dipole, its moment can be straightforwardly solved from an algebraic equation. As special structures of interest, an isotropic impedance sheet, a screen of parallel conducting wires and a mesh of conducting wires are considered with some simplifying assumptions.
